About
Hummadruz
The Hummadruz Global Sounds Film Festival promotes film makers from around the world that attempt to cross language barriers in innovative ways using sound. From contemporary music inspired by New York urban landscapes to a lone didgeridoo in outback Australia, we encourage brave, cutting-edge works.

The festival aims to create a forum for diverse ideas and styles, and examines how film makers globally approach their unique subject matter from their own cultural perspectives. Hummadruz is about bridging cultures through film. The festival is non-competitive and all films are screened on an equal platform. In an attempt to represent all communities, Hummadruz will travel to different parts of the planet each year.

Last year's host was the untrammeled Japanese community of Shizuoka, in the shadow of Mt. Fuji. Memories of the timeless elegance of kimonos and warm saké under the cherry blossoms at the 1999 festival are fading like the transient falling petals... so rev up your engines for unlimited free smog, road-rage and earthquakes, because Hummadruz is headed for its one-and-only screening in LA.

What does "Hummadruz" mean? Hummadruz are the mysterious low-frequency sounds made by the earth, possibly linked to geological activity, though some maintain they stem from supernatural forces.
